Our production facility uses potable water from the Val D’Or municipal water system. Once in our plant, it undergoes a preliminary inverse osmosis treatment to reduce the amount of dissolved solids to no more than 10 ppm (10 mg/liter), allowing our products to be labeled “demineralized water” as set forth in the regulation.
This demineralized water then undergoes a second treatment using an ultraviolet (UV) light system. UV ray penetration is optimal when water is demineralized. UV systems are also considered the proven solution for eliminating dangerous microorganisms. Another advantage of UV light treatment is that it does not affect water taste, color, or odor. At Carnaval Ice we have therefore opted for extra protection in order to guarantee to customers and users that the water we use from the municipal water system is indeed pure.
